Greenwich Police say 61-year-old Julio Molineros of Port Chester was picked up by bail enforcement agents and turned over to the department after the court issued a re-arrest warrant on Monday, July 15.

Police say Molineros was investigated for the sexual assault of a minor child in late 2016. The results developed probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant of fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, according to police.

After obtaining the warrant, police say they discovered that Molineros had left the area.

Further investigation led to the discovery that Molineros was in the Los Angeles, California area in May 2017, police say. Local and federal authorities provided assistance to locate Molineros and take him into custody.

Molineros was later extricated to Connecticut to face charges and was subsequently released on a $100,000 surety bond.

Police say Molineros failed to appear for one or more scheduled court appearances. As a result, the court issued a warrant for first-degree failure to appear on Wednesday, July 3.

Molineros was returned to Greenwich Police Department and charged with failure to appear on Monday, July 15. He was unable to post a court-set bond of $500,000.

“Victims of sexual assault deserve to have their cases vigorously pursued so that their offenders can be held accountable,” said Sgt. Brent Reeves of the department’s Special Victims section.”The Detectives from the SVS are relentless in their pursuit of justice for the victims. In just the last two years, SVS Detectives have traveled to Los Angeles, California, Biloxi, Mississippi and Kansas City, Kansas to hunt down these offenders.”

Victims of sexual assault are urged to contact local police departments or the Rowan Center (a sexual assault resource center) toll-free at 1 (888) 999-5545.
